During Inorsa’s Connect(X) 2026 Spotlight Session, panelists from Harmoni Towers, Selective Site Consultants, and Inorsa discussed a challenge that affects nearly every deployment organization: too much time is spent gathering, validating, and reconciling information before meaningful work can begin. 

Infrastructure Data Comes From Everywhere 

Telecom projects rely on information from a wide variety of sources. 

RFDS packages.
Lease agreements.
Structural analysis reports.
Construction drawings.
Amendments.
Permitting documentation.
Asset records. 

Each document contains valuable information. The challenge is that those documents are often created by different organizations, updated at different times, and stored in different systems. 

As Nat Mangum, CEO of Selective Site Consultants, explained during the panel: 

“We’re getting data from all types of places.” 

That reality creates complexity before a project ever reaches engineering. Teams must determine which information is current, which information is accurate, and which information should be used moving forward. 

The Cost Most Organizations Don’t Measure 

Most telecom organizations track obvious project costs:

What is often harder to measure is the time spent validating information. During the session, Mangum shared that a single structural analysis can consume approximately 18 hours of effort across his organization. A significant portion of that effort is spent gathering, reviewing, and validating information before engineering work begins. 

The challenge is not necessarily performing the analysis itself. The challenge is making sure the analysis is being performed using trusted information. When multiplied across hundreds or thousands of projects, those validation efforts represent a substantial operational cost. 

Conflicts Create Downstream Problems 

The impact of conflicting information rarely ends with the validation process. When inaccurate information moves downstream, the consequences become much more expensive. 

Organizations may experience:

However, the panel emphasized that automation cannot compensate for poor data quality.

The point is straightforward. Organizations must trust their information before they can effectively automate workflows around it. Validation is not separate from automation. Validation enables automation.

One of the strongest themes from the discussion was the importance of identifying conflicts as early as possible. 

The earlier discrepancies are discovered, the less expensive they become.
